 World Diabetes Day Worksheets

Age Group: 3–6 years No. of Pages: 8 Format: Printable PDF

World Diabetes Day is observed on 14 November. For young children, the day works best as a chance to talk about healthy food choices rather than the illness itself. About This Worksheet

Preschoolers do not need to know about diabetes to learn that some foods are for every day and others are treats. The pages use pictures of fruit, vegetables, milk, water, burgers and fizzy drinks so your child can sort them and start to explain why. Keep the tone positive: no food is bad, but some foods are for sometimes.

The 8-page pack teaches healthy choices: children circle healthy foods, trace the word Healthy, colour healthy foods green and sugary foods red, count fruits, lead an apple to a healthy lunchbox, find healthy-habit words and sort foods into healthy and not healthy.

Activities in This Pack

  • Healthy foods: circle the healthy foods and cross the others
  • Trace the word Healthy
  • Colour healthy foods green and sugary foods red
  • Count the fruits and write the number
  • Find the path: lead the apple to the healthy lunchbox
  • Healthy eating habits word search (salad, milk, water, walk)
  • Healthy or not? Cut and sort the foods

Skills Your Child Practises

  • Sorting healthy and not-so-healthy foods
  • Counting fruits and writing the number

  • Finding food and habit words in a word search
