Word Families are a great way to help teach phonics and expand a child’s vocabulary with reading. It also is a great way to show that reading is magic! Children can build fluency (speed and accuracy) and also their reading vocabulary.

Page 1: LIST OF SHORT COMMON WORDS ending with -ub to help your child identify the sound and patterns as they begin learning to read and write.
Page 2: Look at the pictures and draw a line to the MATCHING WORD. This can be used as a quick and simple assessment, independent practice, or homework.
Page 3: Practice identifying the BEGINNING SOUNDS of each word by looking at the picture and circling the correct letter.
Page 4: Practice CVC WORD READING while trying to identify the correct word.
