About This Worksheet
This is a look-and-say book, not a write-on worksheet. Each page shows one harf with around eight colourful pictures and their Urdu names, so your child meets the letter, its sound and new words together.
The book runs from Alif to Yay and ends with two planner pages and two Track my Progress (کارکردگی کا جائزہ) pages, where you can mark each letter as your child learns it. It works well as a first step before the identification and tracing worksheets.
Skills Your Child Practises
- Recognising every Urdu letter by sight
- Hearing the beginning sound of each letter
- Learning everyday Urdu words (ذخیرہ الفاظ)
- Reading pictures from right to left
- Tracking progress letter by letter
How to Use This Worksheet
- Look at one or two letters a day rather than the whole book.
- Point to the letter, say its name, then name each picture together.
- Ask your child to find a picture that starts with the same sound.
- Colour in a star on the Track my Progress page for each letter learned.
- Return to earlier pages often for quick revision.
What’s Next?

Does my child need to learn all the letters before moving on?
No. Once your child knows a few letters well, start the identification worksheets and keep using the book alongside them.
